About the Practice

Nelson Chen Architects Ltd. is a Hong Kong-based professional practice noted for its design excellence and personalized client services.  It was established in 1987 as Wong Chen Associates, successor to the former practices of Wong Cho Tong and Clifford Wong, originally founded in 1947.  Supported by this legacy of professional achievement, Nelson Chen Architects Ltd. remains committed to providing its clients with design solutions that are innovative and appropriate.

Under the design direction of Nelson Chen, an award-winning architect originally from the United States, the firm maintains a diversified practice, offering full professional services in architecture, master planning and interior design, including renovation and adaptive reuse.  Design commissions have ranged in size from just 1,000 sq.ft. interiors to over 5 million sq.ft. garden housing developments.

Regardless of size, each project is given the same meticulous attention to achieve the highest design quality and technical performance.  Thus, Nelson Chen Architects Ltd. has earned an outstanding reputation for its professional services at all stages from design concept to construction.

The work of Nelson Chen Architects Ltd. is recognized by numerous publications, exhibitions and international design awards, including the inaugural Architecture Firm Award from the American Institute of Architects Hong Kong Chapter in 1999, for its “overall design achievement that exemplifies the highest standards of the architectural profession.”
